Major General Shirantha Dissanayake of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC), Brigadier Admininstration and Quartering at the Security Force HQ-East, one of the proud soldiers, produced by the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC) Regiment was invited by the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva to the latter's office at the AHQ on Friday (10) in order to extend best wishes to Major General Shirantha Dissanayake on the eve of his retirement from the Army.
General Shavendra Silva during the brief interaction commended him for his sustained and committed service for more than three decades and recalled a few memories. He also spoke high of the outgoing Senior Officer's dedication for promotion of his SLAOC Regiment and went on to inquire into his future plans after retirement. The retiring Major General Shirantha Dissanayake as a senior officer served several key appointments in the Army and the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps in particular during his career.
The Senior Officer also thanked the Commander of the Army for his wishes and the thoughtfulness while mentioning about the encouragement he received from the Army Chief in the performance of his duties. Towards the end of the interaction, General Shavendra Silva awarded a special memento to the retiree as a symbol of appreciation and commendation.
