Disadvantaged Groups in Madu Areas Given Dry Ration Packs

The non-profit organization, ‘Sweshini’ in the UK sponsored the supply of 50 dry ration packets to disadvantaged families in Tachchanamarutamadu and Madu areas on Wednesday (1) in close coordination with the 653 Brigade HQ of the 65 Division under the Security Force HQ-Wanni.

Mr Ravi Rajapaksha coordinated the project considering hardships of the people living in above areas due to COVID epidemic travel restrictions in force. The selection of deserving families and planned distribution was implemented by 24 Gajaba Regiment troops of the 653 Brigade serving the area.

With the blessings of the Commander Security Forces-Wanni, Major General Hemantha Bandara, General Officer Commanding 65 Division, Major General Anil Samarasiri participated in the distribution project by taking those dry ration packets to their doorsteps.

Commander 653 Brigade, Brigadier Sudantha Fonseka, Commanding Officer 24 Gajaba Regiment, Major Indika Silva, Senior Officers and Officers in 653 Brigade were among others who attended the programme.
