Major General Sujeewa Senerathyapa assumed duties as Commander of the Security Forces - West on Thursday (8), amid religious blessings and military ceremonials at the Headquarters in Panagoda.
The newly-appointed Commander of the Security Forces-West was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and honoured in a Guard Turnout to suit military traditions.
Afterwards, he was invited to plant a sapling as a gesture of memory. Later on, Major General Sujeewa Senerathyapa placed his signature in an official document to signify acceptance of duties, amidst chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’. A few Senior Officers were also present at the venue.
An All Rank tea and a formal address to the Officers culminated the day’s proceedings. Colonel Commandant Sri Lanka Signal Corps, GOCs of 14 Division 61 Division, Directors and Center Commandants under command to the SFHQ-West, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the occasion.
Prior to his present appointment, he held the office of the General Officer Commanding 14 Division.
