Helpless people in and around Batticaloa Town, Kattankudy, Eravur and Ariyampathi areas on Tuesday (8) were provided free lunch packets, organized by troops of 4 Gemunu Watch (GW) and 11 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) battalions of the 231 Brigade under the 23 Division.
Brigadier Vijitha Hettiarachchi, Commander, 231 Brigade took the initiative in this regard in order to help the needy who have been affected due to travel restrictions against the spread of the virus.
More than a hundred parcels were thus distributed during the community project.
