‘Thuru Mithuru Nawa Ratak’ project, introduced by General Shavendra Silva, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army in order to increase the national forest cover, food reserves and beautify the country was further strengthened by the 64 Division of the SFHQ-Mullaittivu.
To coincide with the 12th 'Victory Day' (May 18), 100 coconut saplings were accordingly distributed free among cultivating families with the blessings of the Commander Security Forces- MLT Major General Upali Rajapaksha and under the guidance of Major General Manjula Karunarathne, General Officer Commanding, 64 Division. The first few saplings were delivered to the Oddusuddan Temple for distribution among Oddusuddan villagers.
Major General Manjula Karunarathne GOC 64 Division along with Brigadier Shashika Perera, Commander 642 Brigade participated in the start of the project on Tuesday (18), adhering to health preventive measures.
