Troops Lend Helping Hand to Storm-Affected Walgama Houses

Troops of the 8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) under command to the 141 Brigade of the 14 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - West turned good Samaritans and offered voluntary assistance for removal of debris of storm-affected houses in Walgama area on Tuesday (4).

Gushing winds and storms that swept across the area caused complete damages to 6 homes and fair damages to 15 houses rendering those inhabitants helpless. On being informed of the chaos, Brigadier Lal Wijethunga Commander 141 Brigade on the instructions of Major General Vikum Liyanage, Commander Security Forces - West and Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, General Officer Commanding 14 Division dispatched troops to attend to the emergency and help the affected in whatever the way possible.

Troops accordingly moved to affected area and assisted them for removal of debris in affected houses .The task was carried out under the supervision of Lieutenant Colonel K.Y Priyadarshana, Commanding Officer of the 8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry.
