SFHQ-KLN Improvises Intermediate Care Centres on NOCPCO Head's Instructions

Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces-Kilinochchi inquired into improvements of the Intermediate Care Centres (ICC) under construction on Tuesday (4) and discussed possibilities of completing them without undue delays.

On directions given by General Shavendra Silva, Head, NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, the SFHQ-Kilinochchi immediately took steps to locate suitable buildings and places that can be converted to serve patients, detected from specific areas under the SFHQ-KLN's responsibility.

Accordingly, such Intermediate Care Centres are to be set up in areas covered by Divisions and Brigades under the SFHQ-KLN in the event of any upsurge in COVID-19 positive patients.

The Army has been effective in containing the epidemic to a greater extent in Kilinochchi area with utmost commitment and dedication while working according to a well-designed strategic plan.

According to the instructions and close supervision of the Commander, Security Forces Kilinochchi Major General Harendra Ranasinghe who is also the District Coordinating Officer for COVID-19 outbreak of Kilinochchi, troops are busy improvising quarantine centres in Barathipuram and Murukkandi areas to serve as Intermediate Care Centres in keeping with the government's emergency project in the event of any mass scale admissions.

General Officer Commanding, 57 Division Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Brigadier Admin and Quartering Brigadier Deepal Hathurusinghe, Commander 571 Brigade, Brigadier Dammika Welagedara, Colonel General Staff of the SFHQ KLN and other senior Officers at the Army Base Hospital in SFHQ KLN joined the visit.
