Ranaviru Resource Centre Awarded 2nd Place in 'National Vocational Training Excellence Awards-Sri Lanka 2020'

The Ranaviru Resource Centre (RRC) at Hekiththa, affiliated to the Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka (VTA) won the second place as the 'Best Medium - Scale Public Sector Training Provider -Western Province in the recently-held 'National Vocational Training Excellence Awards-Sri Lanka 2020' ceremony at BMICH.

Dr Seetha Arambepola, State Minister of Skills Development, Vocational Education attended the awarding ceremony as the Chief Guest. The Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) in collaboration with the Skills Sector Development Programme (SSDP) of the Ministry has organized the awarding ceremony.

Representing the RRC, the Commandant, Brigadier Kanishka Perera participated in the ceremony and received the Award for the 2nd Place in the Western Province (Provincial Awards category). General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army on hearing the achievement conveyed his congratulations.

The RRC inaugurated on 24th May 2013 by then Secretary of Defence and incumbent President HE Gotabaya Rajapaksa under the Ministry of Defence in order to provide vocational training opportunities for injured and physically-handicapped War Heroes through nine vocational trade courses who would afterwards be qualified to receive the internationally-recognized National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) certificate.
