Own Initiatives of the Troops Enable Distribution of Dry ration Packs among 64 Needy Families

Troops of the Forward Maintenance Area – Kilinochchi (FMA-KLN), together with its under command Logistics Battalions with a view to helping the needy resident in and around villages, adjacent to the FMA gave away dry ration packs to some 64 poverty-stricken families on 11 April 2021.

As suggested by Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi, the FMA-KLN Commander, Major General Piyal Nanayakkarawasam, together with his under command troops through their own financial contributions prepared those dry ration packs for free distribution on the eve of the New Year.

The main objective of this project of the troops was to provide some relief to the less fortunate and maintain the spirits of reconciliation, unity and solidarity of the people in the area.

All Commanding Officers and Senior Officers actively contributed to finding donors to distribute these dry ration packs, in addition to the support of own troops. The dry ration packs for the poor families were donated after visiting doorsteps of those recipients.

Colonel FMA, Colonel Saman Sumanasinghe, Staff Officers of the FMA Headquarters, Commanding Officer, 5 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (5 SLCMP), Commanding Officer, 7 Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (7 SLASC), Chief Medical Officer, Army Base Hospital – KLN, Commanding Officer, 6 Sri Lanka Ordinance Corps (6 SLAOC), Commanding Officer, 7 Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (7 SLEME) and Commanding Officer, 11 Engineer Service Regiment (11 ESR) joined this programme.
