The Mihindu Seth Medura (MSM) at Attidiya with deep sadness recorded the passing away of the injured War Hero, Corporal H.D. D Prasanna of 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regiment who had been under recuperation and rehabilitation for over 11 years after he sustained serious head injuries on 29 September 2008 while fighting in Visuamadu against LTTE terrorists, the Army Directorate of Rehabilitation announced this morning (21).
The War Hero, Corporal H.D. D Prasanna (32) from Hali-Ela who was the first one to pass away at MSM turned permanently deaf and remained bed-ridden due to the serious nature of LTTE mortar blast injuries, directed against marching troops in Visuamadu during the final phases of the Humanitarian Operation. Several shrapnel pierced his head and caused subsequent cerebral palsy and loss of his speech, but the worsening health condition that ensued over the years with complications prompted his admission to the Colombo Army Hospital for treatment a few days ago where he was pronounced dead.
Brigadier Shiran Abeysekera, Director Rehabilitation called at the Colombo Army Hospital with the MSM Commandant this morning (21) and attended to the formalities in close coordination with the deceased’s family members, Adjutant General’s Branch and the Regimental HQ of the SLLI at Panagoda. The formal military funeral with honours will take place shortly on the directions of the Commander of the Army, SLLI’s Colonel of the Regiment and the SLLI Centre Commandant. jordan Sneakers | Nike
