1 Sri Lanka General Service Corps (SLAGSC)-managed Kuttigala Army cattle farm with the objective of supporting the livelihoods of needy people in the area gave away 20 of their milking cows free of charge to animal-lovers on Saturday (15).
The free distribution was made possible due to excess herds of cattle in island-wide SLAGSC farms as at present on a suggestion, made by Major General Kumara Handunmulla, Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps.
Major W.R.A.C Prasanna, Officer Commanding of the Kuttigala SLAGSC Camp coordinated the civil community-oriented project in close coordination with the Commanding Officer, 1 SLAGSC under the guidelines given by the SLAGSC Colonel Commandant. Selection of the beneficiaries was done in consultation with Grama Seva officials in respective areas.
