Reaping of the maiden paddy harvest in the Panaluwa - Thunnana fields, cultivated by troops of the Security Forces - West took place this morning (18), giving pride of place to traditions and religious rites.
Major General Jayantha Senevirathna, Commander, Security Forces-West attended the harvesting ceremony as the Chief Guest at the invitation of the project officer.
This 6-acre stretch of fields was cultivated a few months ago in parallel with the ‘Thuru Mithuru-Nawa Ratak’ project, introduced by the Commander of the Army.
