Brigadier Athula Ariyarathna of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) recently assumed duties as the 25th Commander of the Forward Maintenance Area-East (FMA- E) HQ of the Security Force Headquarters – East.
The newly-appointed Senior Officer on arrival at the HQ was honoured in a Guard Turnout at the entrance. After the troops of the 3 SLEME awarded the salute to the new Commander, he planted a sapling inside the Headquarters premises and left memories.
Amid religious observances and ‘Pirith' chanting, Brigadier Athula Ariyarathna placed his signature in an official document to signify the acceptance of the new office.
Afterwards, he addressed all Officers and Other Ranks serving the FMA-E Headquarters and all under Command Battalions at the FMA (E) at the Utility Building and set out his future plans for the FMA- E.
