The Phase-2 of the Commander-conceptualized ‘Formulation of Way Forward Strategy for Sri Lanka Army 2020 to 2025’ project, slated to explore and assist upgrade the military strategy in the next five years with special focus on modernization taking place in the defence spectrum amid multiple and complex global threat landscape, had its second session at the Army Headquarters on Thursday (28).
An assembly of top-level Senior Officers gathered again this morning (28) deliberated on the theme in a forum where Dr Udaya Indrarathna, a reputed Sri Lankan Strategist and Executive Coach for CEOs and Aspiring CEOs for the second time, led the sessions providing an impetus covering vital strategic perspectives in the context of today’s world of electronic weaponry, blurred battle lines and amorphous enemies.
The inaugural Phase 1 of the project, headed by the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army got underway earlier on 6 May at the Army Headquarters on the same lines of discussions.
Thursday’s session got to a start recapitulating the previous outcome with the inaugural briefing of Dr Udaya Indrarathna, followed by syndicate presentations after the assembly split into working groups. Those sub-topics classified under environment components, physical components, moral components, conceptual components, etc had relevance to military milieu. Those nominated group leaders afterwards presented their findings and plans for the day in the form of brainstorming, inclusive of group activities, individual presentations and discussions.
The final concluding session of the day recapitulated the whole day’s proceedings and summed up the outcome of findings, observations and recommendations during which the stimulant of the project, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva also joined to listen to Dr Indrarathna, the key motivator of the project, despite the day’s hectic schedules.
Towards the conclusion of the day's proceedings, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, appreciative of those continuing deliberations in a few concluding remarks, urged the participants to be aware of the changing and rather demanding needs of the organization, its imperative need for adaptation to dramatic transformation and global perspectives in the background of fast changing global threat scenario, etc. Nike footwear | THE SNEAKER BULLETIN
