Sri Lanka-based members of the Bohra community extending their humanitarian assistance at this critical hour of the country donated a large consignment of dry rations to the Army in Jaffna for distribution among needy people in Sawalkaddu area on Saturday (18).
The donation, comprised of rice, dhal, sugar, biscuits, dry fish, etc was distributed by the community on behalf of the World Community Leader, His Holiness, Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, who has launched a worldwide humanitarian initiative to provide food parcels to thousands of families in COVID-19 hit countries.
The distributors were assisted by 512 Brigade troops of the Security Force HQ-Jaffna after identifying the most deserving families and also by transporting and distributing the stocks in an organized manner, together with donors.
The Bohra community thanked the Sri Lanka Army in assisting them in their distribution drive. "We are grateful to the Army for helping us in this initiative. At times of crisis, it is our duty as citizens of this nation to help our fellow citizens. The Army has always assisted civilians in times of need and we concluded the distribution drive successfully due to their support," Mufaddal Adamjee, local Permanent Resident (PR) coordinator of the Bohra community commented after the completion of the project.
