Zambian Army Commander Full of Praise to His Counterpart for Arrangements

The customary banquet in honour of the visiting Zambian Army Commander, Lieutenant General W.M Sikazwe psc DIP (DSS) MA (DSS) got underway Monday (24) evening at Kingsbury Hotel in accordance with military traditions.

The banquet, hosted by the acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva on behalf of the Sri Lanka Army, was joined by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva and Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias.

On arrival of the day’s Chief Guest, Lieutenant General W.M Sikazwe with his delegation at the venue, he was received by his host, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, together with Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit before the delegation was conducted to the head table at the banquet hall.

The evening’s spectacle turned more colourful with presentation of eye-catching dancing and musical feats, giving a glimpse of the Sri Lankan cultural and her historical heritage. Impressed with those aesthetic skills of Army dancing troupes, the day’s Chief Guest took time off to speak to those participants and expressed his appreciation and commendation.

The formal speech, delivered by the Zambian Army Chief was full of praise to his host, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva and for all arrangements made in connection with his stay in Sri Lanka.

Towards the end of the dinner, both Commanders shared mementoes as gestures of goodwill and long-lasting friendship.
