A new kitchen complex, built at the Army Headquarters at the request of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit-managed canteen for preparation of subsidized meals was opened on Friday (31) by the Senior Security Staff Coordinator, Brigadier N.R Lamahewa.
This building, erected by the troops of Corps of Engineer Services (CES) on the instructions of the acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva and guidelines given by Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, President Army Seva Vanitha Unit using local resources would facilitate the speedy cooking needs of the canteen. More than 2500 troops at the Army Headquarters consume subsidized meals, provided by this canteen.
