East Commander Deputizes for Army Commander at Religious Ceremony

Major General Rasika Fernando, Commander Security Forces - East deputized for the acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva and attended the cornerstone-laying ceremony for construction of the new pagoda, ‘Dagoba’ at Gurukumbura Adiwasi Janauruma Viharaya in Dambana on Saturday (25).

Ven. Galporuyaya Pradeepawansa Thero, Chief Incumbent at Gurukumbura Adiwasi Janauruma Viharaya in Dambana earlier invited Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva to be the Chief Guest at this ceremony. However, the Commander of the Army due to commitments instructed Major General Fernando to represent him at the ceremony.

Most Ven. Warakagoda Gnanarathana Maha Nayaka Thero of the Asgiriya Chapter of Siam Nikaya, together with Ven. Waturakumbure Dhammaratana Nayaka Thero, Chief Incumbent at Nelligala International Buddhist Centre, Ven.
