The journey of determination and perseverance, ‘Adhisthana Paada Yathra’ of two war-injured Army and Navy War Heroes who were determined to showcase the self-confidence, perseverance and dedicated commitment, found among Tri service members upon completion of 36 days of walk reached its culmination at Kataragama on Saturday (28) amid religious blessings and greetings.
On 22 November, both of them Private (Retd) J.B Piyathissa of Gajaba Regiment (Blind) and the Petty Officer (Retd) S.B.S Kumara (physically-disabled) started their foot pilgrimage from Nagadeepa temple and walked across Vavuniya, Anuradhapura, Dambulla, Kandy, Sri Paada, Awissawella, Kalutara, Galle, Matara via Tangalle for 36 days and reached their final destination, Kataragama to be received by a host of Senior Officers, including Major General Laksiri Waduge, Commander, Security Forces Central, Major General A.L.P.S Thilakarathna, General Officer Commanding 12 Division, Brigadier W.B.S.M Abeysekara, Director Rehabilitations, Senior officers, family Members and relatives of both soldiers and a gathering of Army troops.
