Midnight Services, Carols, Presence of Santa Clause and entertaining features dominated the Army-initiated Elaborate Christmas commemorative programmes in the East, thanks to arrangements put in place by troops of the Security Forces, East in close consultation with members of the clergy, Commander-SF-East, Major General Rasika Fernando and respective commanders of under command formations.
22 Division HQ troops organized Christmas Carols, prior to the conduct of the Midnight Holy Mass at St Anthony’s Church in China Bay on Tuesday (24) with guidance and blessings of Rev. Fr. Dr George Dissanayake, Parish Priest at St. Anthony’s Church, China Bay who was highly instrumental in making this event a success.
Rt. Rev. Dr Christian Noel Emmanuel, Bishop of Trincomalee graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour along with Major General A.I Marasingha, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division, Mr. Sudath Nagahamulla, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Trincomalee, Air Commodore R.A.U.P Rajapaksa, Commandant, SLAF Academy at China Bay, Senior Officers of the Division, Brigades and Battalions including several distinguished invitees. The whole programme was telecast live on Siyatha TV in coordination with the Sri Lanka Army.
Meanwhile, 241 Brigade troops at Akkaraipattu and 11 Battalion of the Sri Lanka National Guard troops, commanded by Colonel Janaka Wimalarathne, 241 Brigade Commander organized Christmas Carols on 23 Dec 2019 under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 24 Division, Major General Chinthaka Gamage.
The proceedings of the event commenced with the reading of the message of Christmas plus a mass by Rev Fr. Nigaston Pietersz. The evening assumed with a variety of an elegant display of dancing features and acts to symbolize the holy birth of Jesus Christ.
Religious dignitaries, District Secretary for Ampara, Officers from the Armed Forces and Police, other government officials and a large number of civilians witnessed the rhythmic evening with a spiritual flavour.Running sneakers | Nike Air Max 270
