Major General Vijitha Ravipriya after an impressive tenure of office nearly 9 months as the Commander, Security Forces-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) premises relinquished his duties on Monday (23) during a formal military ceremony.
A Guard Turn Out, followed by a Guard of Honour, presented by 8 Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment troops saluted the outgoing Kilinochchi Commander before he officially signed a document to hand over the command to his successor, Major General Jayantha Gunarathne who was formally the General Officer Commanding in 58 Division.
A symbolic tree planting programme and a group photograph added memories to the occasion before he joined for refreshments with All Ranks. A few minutes later, in a moving address he thanked everyone for the support extended to him during his office and requested everyone to do the same to the incoming Commander too.
The formal farewell dinner was held at the Officers' Mess with the Commander Forward Maintenance Area - Kilinochchi, General Officer Commanding 66 Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, senior officers and officers participating.
