16 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops of the 24 Division of the Security Forces-East in cooperation with the Divisional Secretariat at Maha Oya Irrigation Department and civilians on Thursday (19) immediately worked together and averted a possible split on the Mahasiyambalakandiya Tank bund in the general area of Mahaoya using sand bags as spilling water levels were threatening.
Due to torrential rains continuing, the whole region was threatened with a devastating flood situation and the tank bund was on the verge of bursting when the troops were alerted.
