In order to retain wetland areas surrounding the Victoria reservoir, 11 Division troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-Cen) at the request of the Ceylon Electricity Board launched a sapling planting programme for two days (10 - 11 Sept) in the general area of the reservoir.
Under the guidelines given by Major General Laksiri Waduge, Commander Security Forces - Central, a group of 10 soldiers of the Sri Lanka Rifle Corps (SLRC) on the instructions of Major General Senarath Bandara, General Officer Commanding, 11 Division joined hands with a large gathering of Electricity Board volunteers and other civilians in the area to plant saplings along the banks of the reservoir.
