Major General B P S de Silva took office as the 13th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 57 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi on Monday (2).
The newly-appointed GOC was greeted to a formal Guard Turnout honour at the entrance to the 57 Division Headquarters upon his arrival. Afterwards, 7 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops saluted him in a Guard of Honour as a military formality.
Afterwards, members of the Maha Sangha blessed the new office chanting ‘Seth Pirith’ as the new GOC, Major General B P S de Silva placed his signature in an official document to signify the acceptance of the new office.
Later on, he addressed all Officers and Other Ranks serving the 57 Division areas. All troops under command to Brigades and Battalions were there at the Utility Building of the 57 Division to listen to him.
