The 653 Brigade under the 65 Division, as one more assignment of its ongoing community-oriented projects that strengthens Civil-Military Coordination (CIMIC) distributed 3000 Turkey berry (Thibbatu) plants among needy families in Thunukkai area on Sunday (23) during a programme at Therakandal Community hall.
Following a concept of Major General Wasantha Kumarapperuma, General Officer Commanding 65 Division, Commander 653 Brigade and the troops initiated this programme since Turkey Berry plantation is well oriented to the climatic condition in this area. Therakandal Agriculture Officer educated the families on growth patterns and use of organic fertilizer to the plantation.
