Civilians & Army Cricketers Play Together in Anavilundankulam

A goodwill cricket encounter between Anavilundankulam civilians and Army cricketers, organized by the 65 Division got underway at Anavilundankulam public grounds on Saturday (16) as a gesture, meant to promote mutual understanding and reconciliation.

The event, arranged with the blessings of Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi (SF-KLN) was given directions by Major General Sarath Weerawardhana, General Officer Commanding, 65 Division.

Army cricketers of the 20 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) of the 65 Division and the sports club ‘Fine Tamil’ had the final tussle after several other sports clubs played in the tournament.

The friendly cricket match finally gave the win to Army cricketers of the 20 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. They received the trophy from the day’s Chief Guest Major General Sarath Weerawardhana.
