Troops of the 4th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and the 12 Battalion Gemunu Watch (GW) of the 523 Brigade under the 52 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) staged a special Christmas Carols in the ‘Pride of India’ Church premises at Chavakachcheri in Jaffna on Saturday (23) to coincide with Christmas festivities.
Carols recited in Tamil, English and Sinhala languages included both traditional and modern ones, largely sung by student choirs of several schools in the area. Several Catholic priests and Brigadier Tikiri Dissanayake, Brigade Commander, 523 Brigade graced the occasion as distinguished guests.
At the conclusion of Carols, all participating members in the choirs were awarded gifts by the 523 Brigade Commander. At the same time, Santa Claus who added colour to the occasion awarded gifts and toys to the little ones who were present at the venue.
