School Accessories Donated to Students of Low Income Groups

150 school students of low income families, resident in Malvila, Sandunpitiya and Namalgama areas in and around Welikanda and Vakarai received school accessories and educational instruments following the coordination done by the 233 Brigade Headquarters of the SFHQ - E following sponsorship, provided by the Buddhist Society of the People’s Bank.

Distribution arrangements that took place in three different areas, Malvila, Sandunpitiya and Namalgama saw Mr Preethi Kollonnage, General Secretary, People’s Bank Buddhist Society Main Branch Colombo, together with members of the People’s Bank Buddhist Society and Senior Army Officers participate in separate respective places.

233 Brigade Headquarters of the 23 Division after a close survey found that many student in under privileged families in remote areas are unwilling to attend the schools due to absence of those school accessories. Accordingly, the 233 Brigade with the blessings of its Brigade Commander and the Commander, Security Forces - East explored the possibilities of seeking kind patronage of the People’s Bank Buddhist Society.

Those accessories included exercise and drawing books, mathematical instruments and other educational tools which are expensive in the public market.

Senior Officers of the 233 Brigade were also present during the distribution ceremony.
