Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regiment’s one of the most interesting projects, ‘Paabala Mela - 2017’ exhibition and carnival is now underway at Hikkaduwa public grounds, drawing thousands of spectators of the south.
The two-day mega spectacle, which was inaugurated on Saturday (23) by Major General Ruwan Kulathunga, Commandant, Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) representing the Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka Light Infantry is coloured with a variety of entertaining features, dog shows, band and drill displays and a Army Tattoo.
Popular musical bands ‘Seeduwa Sakura’ thrilled the spectators throughout the Saturday night. ‘Sanidapa’ band will add their rhythmic beats as dusk falls this evening (24).
Proceeds of this annual event are used for welfare projects in the SLLI regiment.
The merry-making spectacle of the SLLI supported by all in the regiment will culminate this evening.
The mega spectacle has special stalls for sale of domestic items, cloths, spices, ornamental productions and almost everything needed for a household.
Major General Amal Karunasekara, Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI is the Chief Guest during the final day of the event.
