One more awareness programme on ‘Mental Health’ was conducted by the Directorate of Psychological Operations of the Army at the Security Force Headquarters-Kilinochchi (SFHQ- KLN) and the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ- J) respectively during 13-14 December.
A total of 638 Army personnel, including Officers participated in the programme which was conducted at the Nelumpiyasa auditorium in Kilinochchi.
The same programme was held at the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on Thursday (14) with the participation of 30 Officers and 635 Other Ranks.
Lecture assistance to the programme was provided by the Mental Health Unit, Kandy Teaching Hospital with the coordination of Brigadier Athula Hennedige, Director, Directorate of Psychological Operations.
Dr Chaminda Siriwardane, senior consultant at the Kandy Mental Hospital conducted the lectures during the awareness programme.
These programmes were coordinated by the Directorate of Psychological Operations at the Army Headquarters on the instructions of the Commander of the Army in order to improve positive-thinking attitudes and mental health of Officers and Other Ranks of the Army.
