Service Corps carries away Rugby Trophy

The finals of the Inter Regiment Rugby Tournament played at the Army Headquarter Rugby grounds Monday (14) evening saw the ruggerites of Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) emerge victorious defeating their rivals, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR).

The SLASC ruggerites went on scoring giving a stiff resistance to their opponents throughout the match. At the final whistle, SLASC had scored 25 points against 3 points of SLSR, which came as a shock to the losers.

Corporal Perera and Private Wickramarathne from SLASC added additional points to their team showing their skills in the fray. Both of them together strengthened their point base through 3 tries.

Cpl H M G S Perera and Pvt Wickamarathne jointly shared the best player trophy at the end of the encounter.

Major General Sarath Fonseka, Chief of Staff Sri Lanka Army as Chief Guest of the event, gave away the trophies to the winners and runners- up.

Senior Army Officers and a large crowd of Rugby enthusiasts were also present.
