The Army\'s newly-appointed Director General, General Staff, Major General D. S. K Wijesooriya took his office Tuesday (24) morning at the Army Headquarters, Colombo after a very brief ceremony.
Members of the Maha Sangha invoked blessings on the new appointment after tying blessed strings on the new Director General, General Staff, (DGGS) Major General Wijesooriya before he symbolically placed his signature for an official document to mark his assumption of duties.
A gathering of Directors, Senior Officers including his predecessor, Major General P. S. B Kulatunge who handed over duties officially to the new DGGS on the same occasion were present.
Major General P. S. B Kulatunge is to assume his duties shortly as new Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni.
