CR &; FC RUGGERITES BEAT ARMY

The second round of the Caltex Rugger tournament on Friday (16 July) evening at the Army Headquarters grounds saw waves of victory blew off in favour of CR & FC. The Army secured 9 points against 37.

CR & FC, being very well organized to face the challenge of soldiers gave a stiff resistance as the fight for supremacy started. For the Army, who have been winning laurels in the Rugby field for years, the loss came as a shock, though soldiers remained very optimistic.

CR & FC scored their points in three goals, two tries and two penalties when the Army team was able to score their 09 points in three penalties.

Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General S.H.S Kottegoda, Director General General Staff, Major General P.S.B. Kulatunga, Chairman of Army Rugby Association, Major General H.M.N. Krishnaratne, Army Sports officer, Colonel S.H.A.W.B Padeniya, several Army Officers and a large gathering of Rugby fans and enthusiasts were present to witness the match.
