COLOMBO: TWENTY-ONE civilians were confirmed killed another forty injured when Tiger terrorists triggered a powerful explosion on a public bus proceeding to Mt. LAVINIA from KOTTAWA at about 7.45 a.m. this morning (6) when the bus was reaching KATUBEDDA SHAILABIMBARAMAYA temple area on KATUBEDDA – PILIYANDALA main road.
Eight women and twelve men were among the dead in the explosion according to the latest reports. Over 40 passengers injured in the blast are receiving treatment at the COLOMBO South Teaching Hospital.
This brutal crime comes on the heels of a couple of similar blasts activated by Tiger terrorists in the past one week. Similarly, a number of time bombs placed on public and private buses by Tiger terrorists were uncovered at the eleventh hour as a result of the alertness of the public and the bus crew. The latest detection was at MAHABAGE, RAGAMA last evening (5).
