A test-rehearsal of the Armour Recovery Vehicles and Armour Vehicles Launched Bridge (ARV /AVLB) took place recently in Kilaly on a directive made by General Officer Commanding 55 Division Brigadier V.R De Silva.
The event, which amply endorsed the efficiency of ARV/AVLB in their function to recover or pull out bogged tanks and laying of improvised bridges for easy passage of Armour tanks crossing, was conducted by trainee students of the 01st Batch of ARV/AVLB course. Commander Armoured Brigade Colonel M.P Peiris and Commanders of 516 and 554 Brigades were also associated with the occasion.
The objective of the whole show was to enhance knowledge and awareness of the Officers and Other Ranks about the practical use of ARV/AVLB in the field.
Commanding Officers of 04th and 08th regiments of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Commanding Officers of 516 and Infantry Brigades were among Officers who witnessed the rehearsal in addition to the large gathering of Officers and Other Ranks of the Army.
