WANNI & EAST: TROOPS SERVING KARAMPAIKULAM, KOILMODDAI, SIVARAYANKULAM, MALIKAITTIDAL, MUNKILMURICHCHAN are busy clearing areas following a spate of clashes that erupted in the past few weeks
.Troops during clearing operations at KARAMPAIKKULAM recovered a highly decomposed dead body of a female LTTE cadre, one Icom set and one T-56 weapon by her side on Wednesday (12) at about 2.15 p.m.
In the same area troops fired on a tractor carrying terrorists for a clandestine operation against the Security Forces at about 5.00 p.m. on Wednesday (12) completely destroying the tractor and the terrorists.
Troops afterwards cleared the area. LTTE transmissions said that the tractor has been destroyed by the troops.
Meanwhile, troops attacked three terrorist bunkers in the general area UDAYANTANKULAM Wednesday (12) at about 1.10 p.m. The enemy fire injured three valiant soldiers during the fight.
Nine terrorists were killed in the incident and a similar number was injured. Troops later on recovered one T-56 weapon, three claymore mines, 40 hand grenades, twenty-four anti personnel mines, nine arul bombs, four ration packets.
In another incident troops in the general area of KARAMPACHCHIKULAM laid an ambush at about 1.30 p.m. on Wednesday (12) after information confirmed that a terrorist movement was on its way.
The attack that followed inflicted losses on the terrorists.
Meanwhile, troops after storming a strong point of the terrorist removed five anti personnel mines from KOILMODDAI area on Wednesday (12).
In another development, troops attacked a terrorist bunker in the general area of SIVARAYANKULAM with rocket propeller grenades and machine gun fire Wednesday (12) at about 3.50 p.m. Troops believe considerable damage was done to the enemy in the clash bringing death to at least two terrorists.
One soldier in the meantime received injuries due to explosion of a terrorist anti personnel mine in the general area of KARAPAIKULAM Wednesday (12) at about 9.40 a.m.
Troops attack a terrorist strong point in the general KOKKUTUDUVAI area Wednesday (12) at about 10.30 a.m. Troops confirmed ten terrorists were injured in the attack.
Troops in another fight assaulted a gun position of the terrorists in the general area KOKKUTUDUVAI Wednesday (12) at about 1.40 p.m. Troops confirmed four terrorists were killed in this encounter.
In the meantime troops in ANDANKULAM in WELIOYA attacked terrorist base destroying or severely injuring at least nine terrorists. Troops also later on recovered three claymore mines.
Troops in WELIOYA struck a terrorist bunker in ETHAWETUNUWEWA jungles and confirmed at least 3-4 terrorists were either injured or killed. One damaged cougar hand set was later recovered from the area on Wednesday (12) at about 2.50 p.m.
Meanwhile, on information given by a civilian troops in KALLADI village in the east recovered one T-56 MK III weapon, five T-56 magazines, 139 x 7.62 mm 39 rounds, one SFG-87 hand grenade, one 82-2 hand grenade and several other items on Wednesday (12) at about 5.15 p.m.
