The remarkable and spectacular performance of the Army Sports Club, in the Caltex inter-club A division league Rugby tournament played at Galle Face ground on Sunday (13), staged a comeback beating Havelocks SC by 33 points to 25.
The Army SC Ruggerites, at half time were trailing 14-19 and showed a joint effort in its resistance against their rival. The Army turned the game in their favour by scoring four goals and one try but Havelocks SC responded with two goals, one try and two penalties.
However, towards the end of the encounter, winners scored from three converted tries and a try in response to those of two converted tries, a try and two penalties scored by visitors.
Army SC played more aggressively in the second half with their forwards showing a great amount of determination and the three quarters backing up well. Second row forward Sithara Fernando and Centre Pasqual Watukeha scored a try each in the first half with T. A. Silva, adding extra points.
