Streets in Jaffna turned populous overnight as shops and wayside kiosks got filled with new clothes and dresses, fancy wares, new year gift items and wide assortment of multi-coloured sweetmeats.
Public and private transport services appear to be doing good business since residents from every corner of the peninsula commenced flocking Jaffna town center.
Vendors maintain that the existing peaceful atmosphere after the cease-fire agreement was signed, attribute to brisk business now on in this Tamil-dominated peninsula.
