Major General P.U.S Vithanage, Commander Security Force Headquarters –Mullativu (SFHQ-MLT) paid his first visit to the 59 Division Headquarters on Thursday (17) upon his assumption of office as the Commander SFHQ-MLT.
The day’s programme got underway after Major General P.U.S Vithanage was warmly received by Brigadier Nishantha Wanniarachchi, General Officer Commanding, 59 Division and it was followed by a Guard Turnout presented by 19 Gemunu Watch (GW) troops at the entrance to the Divisional Headquarters premises.
Afterwards, the visiting SF Commander addressed the officers and made an inspection tour around the Divisional Headquarters premises.
Later, in the evening, Major General P.U.S. Vithanage graced the finals of the SFHQ-MLT Challenge Volleyball tournament which was held at the 683 Brigade Headquarters in the area.
The tournament, organized under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding, 68 Division, commenced on Sunday (13) with the participation of teams representing Divisions, Brigades and Battalions under the SFHQ-MLT.
59 Division and 64 Division teams qualified for the finals in the tournament. Beating their rivals, 59 Division emerged as champions. The Chief Guest gave away trophies to the winners and runner-up teams.
