Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) troops conducted their Officers’ Training Day on Wednesday (19) at the MIR Regimental Headquarters (RHQ), Kekirawa following directives of Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Colonel of the Regiment, MIR.
Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe addressed the troops on the occasion and pointed out the importance of conducting training days. In the meantime, officers submitted presentations on different topics, related to national security as part of the day’s programme.
The ‘Training Day’ commenced with Physical Training and Drill sessions. Afterwards, Mr. Sanath De Silva, a lecturer at the Kotelawela Defence University (KDU) delivered a lecture on “Let us Build Our Own Image: Public Diplomacy Role of Our Military”. Meanwhile, the Guest Speaker, Dr. Susantha Bandara, enlightened officers on “Best Dining Practices” at the MIR Officers' Mess.
The day’s proceedings culminated with presentation of tokens of appreciation to the Guest Speakers, Mr. Sanath De Silva and Dr Sudantha Bandara.
The training day was held with the participation of more than 79 officers and culminated with a get-together.
