Much Needed Wanni Swimming Pool Opens

The newly-built swimming pool of the Security Forces Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) was commenced by Major General Boniface Perera, Commander SFHQ - W, on Wednesday (22) at Ranasevapura, Anuradhapura.

Fully equipped swimming pool was constructed by the troops of the 21 Division and the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) under the supervision and guidance of Commander, SFHQ-W and General Officer Commanding (GOC), 21 Division.

The opening ceremony commenced with chanting of Seth Pirith by Maha Sangha. Moreover, swimmers of the Army and swimmers representing schools of Anuradhapura area participated in different swimming events during the inauguration.

Army swimmers showed talents in water polo in the inaugural event and swimmers from Mahamaya College, Kandy entertained the visitors presenting their dazzling water ballet demonstration.

The pool is open not only for Tri Service and Police personnel but also for their family members and school children of Anuradhapura.

General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding officers of the SFHQ-W and a large number of soldiers, together with Tri Service and Police personnel, state officials, civil sector and school children participated in the opening ceremony.
