22 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops of the 112 Brigade of the Security Force Headquarters-Central (SFHQ-C) took an initiative to construct a Buddha shrine at the Lakshapana-Kiriwaneliya Monastery following the financial patronage, extended by an expatriate in Australia on July, 4.
The coordination done by the troops enabled Mr Sasanka Warnasuriya of Australia to spend on the construction of this much-needed Buddha shrine at this sacred place on the instructions of the monks residing there.
The construction work began at the auspicious minute with the participation of the donor and a gathering of devotees. Amid 'Seth Pirith' chanting, the monks and several invitees, including a few Army officers contributed to the commencement of the project. Major General Sumedha Perera, Commander, SFHQ-C has given his blessings to the project.
