Hundreds of sightseers and devotees in the 112 Brigade area under the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) enjoyed the glamorous and fascinating Vesak zone, comprised of free eating houses (Dansel), displays of colourful Vesak lanterns at the 112 Brigade premises, during May 3 - 4.
Dansela, display of Vesak lanterns and 'Sil' programmes during May 3-4 drew a huge gathering of civilians who are interested in sight-seeing.
Meanwhile, ‘Vesak’ arrangements of the 121 Brigade under the Security Force Headquarters, Central (SFHQ-C) got underway on ‘Vesak’ day (3) by placing a new Buddha statue and planting a Bo sapling at the 121 Brigade premises.
Chief Incumbent of Katugahagalle Viharaya Venerable Mapakade Premerathna, together with a few Buddhist monks, chanted Pirith while Brigadier W.A.N.M Weerasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 12 Division planted the Bo sapling in the premises.
A large number of officers and other ranks attended the series of religious activities at the Brigade premises.
Moreover, troops of the 12 Division under the SFHQ-C engaged in many meritorious activities on account of Vesak commemoration.
Troops of the 12 Division cleaned the Kundasale Ayurveda Hospital premises and painted buildings and beds in the hospital.
In the meantime devotees in the area and Army personnel attended a Bodhi Pooja on account of Vesak Poya. Moreover, people enjoyed the Osu Pan Dansela and visited the display of Vesak lanterns and other colourful decorations.
