Considering the importance of supplying subsidized food items to both Army and civil personnel in the area, the Engineer Service Regiment (ESR) inaugurated its ‘Creators’ Welfare Shop’ as the first phase of the newly-constructed ground floor of a three storied building.
It was opened in a simple ceremony by Major General E.M.M Ambanpola, Colonel Commandant, ESR at the invitation of the ESR Centre Commandant on Friday (10) on the eve of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
The new welfare shop supplies all food commodities and essentials at concessionary rates and remains open till late in the evening.
The opening event was attended by Brigadier P.S.M Perera, ESR Centre Commandant, Colonel N.P.K Jayawardena, ESR Deputy Centre Commandant, senior officers and other rankers.
