Officers and other ranks serving the 54 Division and 61 Division of the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) got together to hold the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival on Friday (10) and Tuesday (7) with the attendance of a large number of civil and Army personnel.
Many games were organized during the celebrations, including Marathon, Bicycle Races, Avurudu Kumara and Avurudu Kumariya pageants for both civilians and Army personnel.
Major General Boniface Perera Commander, SFHQ-W, graced the event as the Chief Guest and the event included many varieties of traditional games and fun-making features, adding glamour and attention to the New Year Festival of the 54 Division
Special fun-making events meanwhile added colour and glamour to the New Year Festival in the 61 Division. Simultaneously, certificates and awards for champions and runners up in the Elle tournament and the winners in the New Year Festival of the 61 Division were awarded by Major General P.U.S Vithanage, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division.
