With the intention of finding ground realities and the plight of the flood victims in the East, Major General Lal Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters-East visited a few floods affected areas and relief centers on Wednesday (24).
During the tour Major General Perera inspected the places where meals are cooked by the Army for those victims and spoke to them in order to find out their requirement, health condition, etc.
Meanwhile, Major General Maithri Dias, General Officer Commanding, 53 Division in Security Force Headquarters-West (SFHQ-West) went to Habarana area in order to make relief arrangement for a group of flood victims who are stranded in Palugaswewa area.
This visit was requested by Divisional Secretariat of Palugaswewa after the learnt about the plight of those flood victims.
Major General Dias immediately made arrangements with Army officers to evacuate those victims to safer places and commenced the provision cooked meals and all other requirement after relocating them in safer places.
