A new altar, put up by the 592 Brigade troops of the 59 Division at the St Anthony’s church in Mamulai village was opened on Sunday (14) during a brief ceremony, attended by the parish priest, General Officer Commanding, 59 Division, 591 and 592 Brigade Commanders, devotees and a gathering of civilians.
4 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regiment troops serving the 592 after observing the absence of this sacred object inside the church, took steps to build it using their own resources and money within a short period of time.
On behalf of Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), Brigadier N.A.P.C Napagoda attended the occasion as the Chief Guest.
