The ‘Sammabimani’ spiritual programme, conducted by Ven Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera with the backing of the Army in order to enhance moral development of the general public got underway at Kasagala Raja Maha Viharaya, Weeraketiya on Thursday and Friday (13 and 14) and at Muthiyanganaya Raja Maha Viharaya, Badulla on Monday (17).
Troops of 12 Division organized the Weeraketiya event and 11 Division troops organized Badulla event on the instruction of Major General Mano Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters-Central (SFHQ-C),
During the Weeraketiya event, Brigadier J.R Kulatunga, General Officer Commanding, 12 Division graced the occasion as the chief guest. Senior officers, officers, other ranks and more than 13,600 devotees participated on both days. 10 Gemunu Watch (GW) troops offered ‘Belimal’ drink to the devotees.
Meanwhile, Major General Mano Perera as the chief guest at the Badulla event, together with Brigadier S.P Senaviratne, Brigade Commander, 112 Brigade, Divisional Secretary, Divisional Secretariat, Badulla, senior officers, officers, other ranks and over 8000 devotees participated in religious programmes. In the meantime, 112 Brigade troops offered ‘Belimal’ drink for devotees.
The ‘Sammabimani’ spiritual programme will get underway at Weerasinghe Grounds, Ampara, Central College, Uhana, Keppitipola Maha Vidyalaya, Mahaoya, Shikshakara Privena (Buddhist education foundation), Monaragala, Udaganawa Raja Maha Viharaya, Buttala and Wellassa National School, Bibila from Thursday to Tuesday (20 to 25).
