'Healthy Army Healthy Nation' Goes to Educate Troops in the East


One more round of the ongoing ‘Healthy Army Healthy Nation’ (HAHN) campaign in the Army got underway on Friday (14) for the troops serving the eastern theater of the Security Force Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E), to be in line with the Commander’s concept for provision of the best health care for all soldiers.

The introductory lecture was delivered by the Consultant Physician, Brigadier Dr A.S.M Wijewardane on the importance of leading a healthy life, practice of sound health habits through food and drinking habits, prevention from smoking, etc which run the risk of being exposed subsequently to  Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs), such as High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, etc.

Afterwards, Captain D.Y.S Kumara of Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) conducted a separate lecture to all other ranks on the same lines, covering different aspects of other diseases, etc.

Major General Lal Perera, Commander, SFHQ-E was present at the inaugural occasion as the chief guest, together with several General Officers Commanding of Divisions, Brigade Commanders and other senior officers, including Commanding Officers of  Battalions.
