Battalion troops in 221,222 and 233 Brigades of the 22 and 23 Divisions under the Security Force Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) were keen on spearheading more community projects to uplift the living standards of the general public in the SFHQ-E area.
24 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops distributed dry ration packets among 41 pregnant mothers with the financial assistance of Mrs. A.S Weerakoon, a donor from Colombo at Sinhapura in Welikanda Divisional Secretariat on Sunday (2).
Troops of 27 SLNG similarly distributed drinking water among 168 drought-hit families at Ilangathurei village, Trincomalee on Sunday (2) and Thursday (6).
222 Brigade meanwhile troops provided lunch to ‘Rewatha’ Orphanage, Trincomalee on Monday (3). On the same day, they declared opened the newly constructed building Sunday school building at Jayabodhi temple, Trincomalee in the presence of the Brigade Commander, 222 Brigade and other military and civil officials.
Troops of the 2 Gajaba Regiment (GR) in the meantime organized two ‘Shramadana’ campaigns to clean the premises of Mary Cross preschool, Sumedankarapura and the Public Health Centre, Sonakawadi on Monday (3). On Thursday (6), they offered ‘Gilanpasa’ to devotees who observed ‘Sil’ at Bodipadarama temple to mark the ‘Il’ Full Moon Poya Day.
22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops similarly assisted the conduct of the ‘Katina Pinkama’ at Mangala Raja Maha Viharaya, Seruwawila with a colourful procession on Thursday (6).
In the meantime, SFHQ-E troops observed the ‘Il’ Full Moon Poya Day along with a ‘Sil’ observing campaign, ‘Dhamma’ discussions and alms-giving programme at Dimbulagala temple on Thursday (6). In the evening, they organized a ‘Bodhi Pooja’ with the participation of all officers and other ranks at the SFHQ-E.
